We are looking for a permanent full time Keeper who would like to provide daily care to our Reptile Collection and is willing to working on other sections as required.



The successful applicant will have:



A National Certificate in Captive Wild Animals or equivalent qualification.
Experience in captive animal keeping and daily husbandry.
Knowledge of behavioural and environmental enrichment techniques.
The ability to work with limited supervision, solve problems and work well in a team environment.
The ability to work on a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

An opportunity has arisen for a keeper position at Camperdown Wildlife Centre. The salary scale is £15,550 to £17,267 plus weekend allowances. Weekend working is undertaken on a rota basis with two in five weekends worked. Additional weekends may be required to cover special events.

Camperdown Wildlife Centre has a comprehensive collection of both British and European animals set in the grounds of Camperdown Park. You will be responsible for the daily welfare of the animals at the grazing fields and within the Centre.

You will have or be working towards the Zoo Animal Management or equivalent and at least three years relevant experience of animal welfare in a zoo or similar environment.

The Park is home to a variety of species, ranging from marine mammals, to terrestrial carnivores, exotic birds, raptors, primates, reptiles and macropods. Volunteers would be working alongside our keepers and involved in most aspects of animal husbandry,
as well as opportunities in education and public encounter programmes.

Colchester Zoo is currently looking to recruit an experienced Head of section to oversee the daily running and management of the Zoo's Giraffe section and team.

This section of the Zoo includes a large breeding group of Red river hog, the only group of Aardvarks currently breeding in the UK and a large mixed African paddock housing Giraffe, Zebra, Ostrich, Crowned
Crane, Greater Kudu and a recently breeding group of White Rhino.


The position reports directly to the Zoo Curator and will be responsible for all aspects of managing the section including staff rotas, disciplinary procedures, staff appraisals, section protocols, animal husbandry, moving the section forward and planning future developments.

The successful applicant will need to be a highly motivated individual with at least eight years experience working in a zoological collection. Excellent animal husbandry skills are essential and experience with Giraffe and/or Rhino is preferable.


Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience managing staff and hold a qualification in the Zoo animal management certificate or equivalent and have a full valid driving licence.

Fortress of the Bear is a non-profit bear education and rescue facility for problem orphaned brown bear cubs. We are located in Sitka, Alaska in beautiful southeast Alaska. We are looking for highly energetic individuals that are interested in acquiring experience working with brown bears in a zoological setting.

Duties will include, but are not limited to: Daily feeding, enrichment, and exhibit and night holding cleaning for bear collection; aiding the Bear Manager in training of the bear collection; daily animal cleaning, feeding, and enrichment for petting zoo animals; provide guided tours and other guest assistance; assist with educational programs and other special events; and create and implement a program for use at Fortress of the Bear under one of the suggested topics: Enrichment, Training, Habitat, OR Education.

Qualifications to include: Graduate from High School acquiring a Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences or Biology Or college graduate with a degree in Life Sciences or Biology; prior experience working with animals in a zoological atmosphere, experience with carnivores preferred; experience working with programs or education departments preferred; strong interpersonal and public speaking skills; able to lift 50 pounds; work in a variety of weather conditions; able to work weekends and holidays; positive attitude; possession of a valid driver license.

Position: Vacancy for a Junior Veterinary Technician at an Avian Captive Breeding and Wildlife Rehabilitation Programme at the National Avian Research Center (NARC), part of Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. NARC was established in 1989, with the special mission to promote bustard and falcon conservation and reconcile the tradition of Arab falconry with a sustainable use of the resources. NARC’s strategy supports eradication of houbara poaching, management of hunting activities and management of wild populations as well as captive breeding of houbara for restocking depleted populations, reinforcement and re-introduction.

Candidate profile: Experienced veterinary technician with background in the medical care of wildlife (avian preferred). Applicants should be well motivated, willing to take responsibility and should be fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic would be helpful. The applicants should be familiar with MS package (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) for vet database operations. The applicant should be willing to work with a multilingual team in a desert environment.

Duties: The holder of this position will be based at the captive breeding project near the city of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. This position will be a part of small medical team consisting of 1 veterinarian, 1 veterinary nurse, and 2 veterinary technicians as well as a large multidisciplinary team of aviculturalists. The successful candidate will assist the Veterinary officer in the daily routine taking place at National Avian Research Center and Rehabilitation Center.

Education/Experience required: Prefer graduation from an accredited institution in veterinary technology and 3 years of relevant experience and working knowledge of current veterinary medical and surgical procedures.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), a charity founded in
1909, owns and manages Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park.
The Zoo is the 2nd most popular paying visitor attraction in

annually, and has an international reputation for its very active
conservation and education programmes. The Highland Wildlife Park is
a premier visitor attraction based at Kincraig outside Aviemore and
features Scottish and other species, some now extinct in the wild.

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Education Officer working within
the Animal, Education, Conservation team. This role is to assist in
the management and delivery of the Society's public education
activities, including the role of volunteer coordination, and to be
part of the Society's Education team communicating to a variety of
audiences. This role requires good communication skills and ability
to relate to different age and ability groups.

The successful candidate will need to work in close collaboration
with others and the post requires flexible working – including
weekends, and is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will preferably have a degree in zoology/biology or related subject, experience of education delivery/teaching and giving presentations/public speaking, working with diverse age groups and/or working in a visitor attraction, and have a good level of animal / environmental knowledge and excellent customer care, and a clean driving licence.

Salary for this post will be in the region of £19,000 - £22,000
depending on experience.
