ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join Longleat Safari Park in a senior role responsible for leading the carnivore team in all aspects of the daily operation including daily care of the animals end ensuring excellent levels of guest experience. You would be working with an incredible variety of species including African Lions, Amur tigers, our two species of wolves and our exciting breeding group of cheetah.

ABOUT YOU

You will need a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must lead by example and have strengths in team management as well as the ability to think creatively and make operational decisions as the need arises.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

You will ideally have 5 years’ experience working in an animal collection, including in a supervisory role and have a flexible approach to work well under pressure. A specific vocational and technical qualification, such as a DMZAA qualification or suitable recognised equivalent experience is essential. A full, Clean driving licence is also essential.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a Permanent position, working 40 hours a week hours over 5 days as required by the business to include weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Hours will vary from 8.30am until close (times vary throughout the season).

Twycross Zoo is at a very exciting stage of development with the first phase of a 20 year masterplan already underway. The plan will see the zoo developing new habitats for a refreshed animal collection starting with Gibbon Forest in 2016.
We currently have a vacancy for an Education Ranger who will support the team during our winter season. With an immediate start, this role is offered on a temporary, zero hours contract basis.
Hours are allocated by mutual agreement and you may be required to work up to 5 days out of 7 dependent upon visitor numbers and weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities
· Deliver presentations and activities
· Engage with visitors in immersive exhibits
· Handle enquiries from visitors
· Produce high quality resources for educational activities

Key Skills and Requirements
· Excellent presentation skills and great customer service
· An Education-related qualification and/or experience would be advantageous
· A zoo-related qualification would be desirable
· Experience handling small animals

Rates of pay are £5.88 per hour at ages 16-20 and £7.65 at ages 21 and above. Minimum age is 16 for Health and Safety reasons.

Experienced Animal Keeper

 Elephants

Woburn Safari Park is currently looking to recruit an experienced Animal Keeper to join the Elephant team.
Woburn’s Elephant Herd consists of 4 Adult Asian elephants and our elephant calf, which are managed primarily in free contact.
Duties will include daily husbandry and management of the elephants including training, washing and exercising. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a close knit team and will be able to demonstrate the good communication skills required for regular elephant presentations and special experiences.

The ideal candidate would be required to have the following;
· Experience working with elephants, preferably free contact, within a similar environment
· Have attained the ANC in the Management of Zoo Animals qualification or equivalent
· Work well within a team and be able to supervise and develop work
experience students
· Flexible approach to work and working hours
· Current full driving license

The position is full time working 5 days out of 7. As this will include regular weekend working, a flexible approach to days / hours will be required.

Here at All Things Wild Nature Centre we are currently in our next phase of development with exciting times ahead. As the zoo expands, so does the need for new keepers to join our zoo keeper team.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the need of an experienced zoo keeper to work 5 days a week including bank holidays and weekends. The successful applicant will have a keen passion for the natural world and conservation. A good eye for detail and high standards for animal husbandry are a must.

Key Responsibilities
•        Assist the Zoo team with day to day duties of animal husbandry.
•        Have a minimum of 1-2 years employed within a zoo environment.
•        To ensure the highest standard of animal welfare is being adhered to.
•        To be competent delivering talks and experiences to members of the public. 
•        Handle enquiries from visitors.
•        Assist in overseeing volunteers.

Key skills and requirements

•        The DMZAA animal course is advantageous but not necessary.
•        Must have a can do attitude.
•        Strong verbal communication skills and good customer care skills as she/he will be delivering animal presentations/talks to our visitors.
•        An excellent time keeper.
•        Work well as part of a team.
•        The ability to keep calm in stressful situations.  
•        A full UK driving license is desirable.

Applications are invited for an experienced keeper on the Bird Section of the Park.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the daily husbandry of the section, and will work in close co-operation with the Section Head and his staff towards the continuous development of the section. They will be expected to undertake all relevant aspects of work in a progressive animal collection. Assisting in the presentation of educational talks is essential.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience with a variety of Bird species is essential, as is knowledge of artificial incubation systems. Applicants will need to demonstrate good communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to lead and work as part of a team. Possession of a relevant animal management qualification is desired and a full driving licence is essential for this position.

We are seeking a confident, outgoing, full time zoo keeper with a minimum of three year’s experience working for a zoo or in a similar animal environment. An outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively with the general public (including undertaking keeper talks) are essential.

Applicants must have a full driving license and a car, and also hold the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals or similar.
