Bird Staff Team Member
International Centre for Birds of Prey
We are looking for
one or more hard working individuals to become part of a very dynamic and
passionate bird staff team and support the work carried out at the
International Centre for Birds of Prey, Newent, Gloucestershire.
We are seeking
motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have a good sense of humour coupled
with excellent communication skills. A willingness to work hard and be a team
player is very important to us. As a member of Bird Staff you must be prepared
to liaise and work closely with all centre staff and volunteers.
The husbandry and
cleanliness of the centre is a priority and a major part of the job. As a team player you must be prepared to work
with both staff and volunteers in these tasks. The position is physically
demanding. DIY skills would be
beneficial but not essential. Experience in working with and training birds of
prey is desirable for the role, although for the right candidate training from
the basics will be given.
You will be required
to take part in public flying demonstrations with our team of trained birds and
also conduct guided tours for all ages of visitors, therefore public speaking
and customer service skills are essential. The ability to project and to be
clearly understood is important. You will show a strong desire to learn, study
and improve your knowledge and skills base.
The position is 40
hours a week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays with time off in
lieu. Some out of normal hours working is required for owl evenings and other
events – which you will receive overtime payment for. These hours are subject to
change over the year and applicants need to be flexible in their approach. Days
off are likely to be in the week.
Further Educational
qualifications are an advantage at any level, GCSE’s or equivalent in English,
Maths and Science are essential.
A Full UK driving
licence is essential.
We are potentially
looking a full time permanent team member with an initial 6 months probationary
period, and/or a seasonal member of the team April to October.
Short listed
