Zoo keeper

We’re looking for a practical, versatile, and enthusiastic person to join our zoo family.

As part of our team, you’ll need to have a can-do attitude, be adaptable and willing to learn. This is a physically demanding role working across all zoo sections from birds to large hoof stock stables.

A typical day includes:

  • Undertaking the cleaning and feeding regimes for the allocated sections.
  • Providing a high standard of guest service, delivering fun, educational public talks and feeding experiences.
  • Maintaining the enclosures and grounds to a high standard undertaking general tasks including weeding, planting, re-branching, painting.
  • Chaperoning our work experience candidates and students as part of our educational programme.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have practical experience within an animal care field.
  • Qualifications to degree level in Zoology or a related field is desirable.
  • Have experience of maintenance and agricultural machinery.
  • Be hardworking, reliable and a team player.
  • Have excellent communication skills to engage with our guests.
  • Hold a full driving licence valid in the UK.

Hours of work will be 40 hours per week on a schedule of five days out of seven, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week

Wage: Dependent upon experience

Duration: Permanent
