Drayton Manor Zoo is a fantastic place to work with 15 acres of open plan zoo, home to 166 species including many programme animals. The zoo is currently undergoing an exciting period of development.

About the role:
Drayton Manor has an exciting opportunity to help lead and develop our zoo. The role is to manage, coach and develop an assigned team of zookeepers. Your remit will cover all birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

You will work in partnership with the Head of Zoo Operations on the efficient deployment of staff to deliver first class standards of animal welfare, record keeping, exhibit maintenance, development and presentation. You will work closely with the Head of Zoo Operations to ensure the safe operation of the zoo, with strict adherence to Risk Assessments and Codes of Safe Working Operating Procedures and compliance with the Secretary of States Standards on Modern Zoo Practice.

To enhance the guest experience within Drayton Manor through high standards of exhibit presentation, animal welfare and customer service. The role will require some flexibility as duties will include direct animal management, office-based administration and occasionally to deputise for the Head of Zoo Operations when requested.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced zoo professional who is committed to driving up standards using the best available evidence. You must be able to demonstrate your technical ability with birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

It is essential to have a minimum of a Level 3 Extended diploma in Animal Management and/or a DMZAA qualification.

You will be a ‘people person’ and have a proven track record as a leader and be able to confidently communicate with everyone.

How to apply?
Salary:        £22,000 pa plus excellent company benefits
Hours:        You will be on an annualised contract or 2119 hours per annum, on a rostered basis including weekends and bank holidays
