EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OF WILD WELFARE
Wild Welfare is
looking for a new Executive Director who is passionate about improving the
lives of captive wild animals and can provide transformational leadership to a
committed staff team.
Wild Welfare
occupies a unique niche in the animal welfare world. Its vision is to end the
suffering of captive wild animals around the world, uniting the worlds leading
zoos and animal welfare organisations and working together to provide long
lasting change to animal welfare in all captive wild animal facilities.
This is a
significant opportunity for the right person to lead a talented group of people
in delivering our strategy and shaping our plans into the future.
The successful
candidate will preferably have an in-depth knowledge of both the global zoo and
aquarium and animal welfare ‘Not for Profit’ (NGO) communities, and the ability
to work with and inspire a range of stakeholders around captive animal welfare reform.
While believing that
zoos and aquariums can play an integral role in shaping how the public feel
about wild fauna and the natural world, you will recognise that high standards
of animal welfare underpin the success of any captive facility. You will have a strong interest in and
ability to work with different cultures
inspiring those you work with and their public to take action where it
is needed most.
Our ideal candidate
will have senior level administrative and financial management experience,
outstanding communication skills, an outgoing, influential personality and a
track record of fundraising and building partnerships.
The individual must
be based in the UK and the role requires a 5 day work week, sometimes irregular
hours, mostly working from home. The salary will be dependent on the
candidate’s background and experience. You must be willing and able to carry out regular international
travel.
