A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Animal Keeper with a high psittacine interest, to work within a team of enthusiastic keepers here at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park. The position is in the newly developed ‘Animal Rehabilitation and Reception Centre’ (ARRC) where the inhabitants are predominantly psittacines. However further duties may also include the parks mammals.  Working on this section, it is essential that the successful candidate has good bird awareness and zoo animal management experience, it is strongly preferred that you will have passed a Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals or an equivalent zoo biology focused qualification. Good knowledge of ZIMS is an advantage but not essential. Experience of working with the general public would also be beneficial. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team, which could involve caring for all the species within the park, and assist with our keeper volunteer programme; under the supervision of the section’s senior keeper or head keeper.

About You:
To operate effectively in this role, practical experience in a zoo environment is essential and experience of working with a range of wild animal species is desirable. You must also have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of zoo legislation and best practice, along with a sound basis of practical knowledge and skills about good zoo animal management. A full driving license will be advantageous due to the location of the park, and if the successful candidate is not formally qualified, you must be willing to acquire the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals.

Working hours are 35 hours per week (annualised figure) and the post involves weekend and occasional evening work.
Salary range for this post will be £12,000 – £17,000 dependent on qualifications, age and experience
