Job Description
Monkey World is inviting applications from experienced great ape keepers for the role of Deputy Team Leader on our large chimpanzee section. We currently have 55 chimpanzees living in 3 mixed sexed groups and 1 bachelor group. Our chimpanzees have been rescued from a variety of different backgrounds. The successful candidate will support the Team Leader in all aspects of the section including animal husbandry, diets, operant conditioning, introductions, enrichment and health checks. You will also be responsible for staff training and monitoring. This is an extremely busy section so the successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent delegation and organisational skills.
Qualifications/Experience
This role
requires a keeper with at least 4 years chimpanzee experience. Experience of
operant conditioning
Applicants will
need to demonstrate good communication skills, be physically fit,
self-motivated and able to lead and work as part of a team.
The role is full time and includes weekend duties as part of the current rolling roster system. Salary is paid monthly. 28 days holiday per annum (including bank holidays). Staff accommodation dependant on availability.
