The College is seeking to appoint an Animal & Education Centre Technician: Zoo Mammals and Birds to contribute to the College’s zoo licensed and BIAZA member Animal Management Centre.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day care and husbandry of the animals housed on the zoo section of the AMC. The section consists of a zoo courtyard and nocturnal room which house a diverse range of birds and mammals. Species under your care include primates, Asian short-clawed otters, Bali starlings, Tawny frogmouth, raccoons and meerkats amongst others.

The key responsibilities of the role are developing and maintaining high standards of husbandry and animal welfare as well as the direct supervision of students during their practical sessions and skills development.

As an AMC technician: Zoo Mammals and Birds you will be expected to have proven knowledge and experience of working with a range of zoo animal species, experience of working with young people. You should have a forward thinking and progressive approach to animal training and enrichment.

An important element of the role is ensuring that the student experience is both positive and rewarding. To meet this aim it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality support to our learners as well as demonstrating exceptional standards of animal welfare.
