Assistant Curator of Mammals/Africa
Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, LA is seeking outstanding candidates for Assistant Curator of Mammals/Africa. This person will be the front-line supervisor for the Africa section which cares for a large and diverse collection that includes giraffes, white rhinos, lions, African painted dogs, and various hoofed stock. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. They will be able to communicate effectively and lead by example. Applicants should have a proven record and working knowledge of zoo safety and security, animal management programs, AZA and USDA regulations, best practices involving the care and management of animals, computer skills including the ability to use ZIMS record system, animal behavior and operant conditioning. The ideal candidate will foster an upbeat and efficient working environment. Under the direction of the Curator of Large Mammals, this position will collaborate with the Assistant Curator of Mammals/Asia, hospital staff, and other curatorial staff to maintain optimal animal welfare, promote staff development, professionally communicate, and deliver outstanding guest experience. This AC will develop an environment of excellence, accountability, growth, and cooperation.
