ASSISTANT CURATOR – AQUARIUM - BRISTOL ZOO GARDENS

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Curator in the Aquarium. This is a hands-on managerial position with the post holder being responsible for the daily care of the Zoo’s fish collection as well as carrying out Curatorial duties for the Aquarium.

The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of fish husbandry and captive breeding and will become part of a 10 person team responsible for the daily care of the Zoo’s collection of fish, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Some husbandry experience of one of the other taxa mentioned here would be an advantage although is not essential.

The successful applicant will be educated to at least GCSE level, including English and a biological science and hold the City & Guilds Certificate in Zoo Animal Management (or equivalent). The ability to supervise staff and having a general knowledge of the conservation and educational roles of zoos is also desirable.
