Job Requirements:
The Research Coordinator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the captive propagation facility on the Big Island of Hawaii and ancillary field sites. Responsibilities include the maintenance of the physicalplant; design and construction of new facilities; hiring, termination and supervision of full-time, part-time, seasonal and volunteer staff; establishing, implementing and monitoring avicultural protocols to includedaily husbandry, propagation, artificial incubation, hand-rearing and veterinary care of passerines; preparation of reports, memos and policy statements; participation in working groups and other conservation partnership activities; administrative duties to include maintaining checkbook and pettycash, insurance processing, ordering supplies and equipment; and all related tasks as needed.

Representative qualifications include Bachelor's degree in biological science or a related field, or equivalent specialized training; experience with captive husbandry and propagation of birds; experience in field research or species recovery programs; communication skills; record-keeping skills; ability to use and maintain research equipment; ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphics systems; ability to collect biological samples; ability to show leadership skills and work effectively with others; ability to prepare and make presentations. Ability to assist in the preparation and administration of grants, as well as develop, administer and monitor budgets is desirable.
