The Chester Zoo Experience
TEMPORARY
Chester Zoo, one of Europe’s leading Zoological collections, has an active and award winning Education Division and is now seeking to expand its range of educational and visitor experiences by recruiting two Experience Presenter/Keepers on a 10 month temporary contract.
The successful candidate will promote and deliver a range of Zoo experiences including guided tours, public education programmes and animal encounters in both public areas and animal enclosures and may include some aspects of husbandry and animal handling. Work is both indoors and outdoors.
The successful applicants must have a Zoo Biology or Conservation related degree and a good working knowledge and experience of conservation education, presentation design and organisation including tour guiding or public speaking. The successful candidate will have experience of animal husbandry and working as part of a zoo keeper team. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide excellent customer care, have excellent presentation skills and visitor management. They will be computer literate in particular working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
The successful candidate will ideally have good knowledge of Chester Zoo’s animal collection and conservation work. They will ideally have good knowledge of safe working practices and risk assessments.
This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.
Work is 5 days in 7, including weekends, bank holidays and evenings. The salary is a minimum of £13,777 (pro rata) for a typical 35 hour week subject to Job Evaluation.
