Animal Keeper

ANIMAL KEEPER

Knowsley Safari Park is the largest safari park in the UK and, at present, we are undergoing redevelopment. As part of this development process the walk around exhibit area of the park is going through some exciting changes. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate that can assist in developing and delivering high standards of animal care within this area of the park. The species that are currently within this section range from various large and small mammals, reptiles and invertebrates.

The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of animal husbandry and a strong team mentality to achieve the team’s objectives. Previous experience of working with exotic species along with experience of positive reinforcement techniques for the purpose of training would be advantageous but not essential.

Knowledge of working within safe working protocols and risk assessments would be desirable. A full UK driving licence is essential, and tractor and trailer driving experience would be beneficial. The successful candidate will have an Advanced National Certificate in the Management of Zoo Animals qualification (or equivalent national recognised Level 3 qualification).

This is a full time, permanent position (average 40 hour working week) which will include bank holidays and weekends on a rotated basis. The position comes with a salary of up to £15,000 depending upon suitability and experience as well as 23 days holidays each year plus 8 days in lieu of bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
