During the last four
years, Longleat has been undergoing a period of significant change. These
changes have affected many aspects of the Safari Park, with considerable improvements to the supporting
infrastructure, systems and procedures. At the heart of every change has been
the desire to enhance the reputation of Longleat and to dramatically improve
the visitor experience.
As a result of a
recent re-structure, the post of ‘Head of Safari’ has been created. The key
responsibility is to support the Director of Animal Operations in creating an
amazing animal collection and experience for the visitors. You will manage a
large team of experienced keepers, who have significant knowledge of their
specialist species. You will also run
the Safari Park on a day to day basis and therefore must be an effective
manager, have extensive commercial experience and be operationally focussed.
Further, you will
work with the Director of Animal Operations and the Management team to manage
and enhance the animal collections. Our
animal populations includes carnivores, a significant range of hoofstock and deer.
The successful
candidate is likely to have 5-10 years of experience gained within a safari
park or similar Leisure attraction. You do not need specific experience of the
above species, but knowledge of guidelines that govern the industry will be
important. You will also be required to be computer literate.
