U.S. PROGRAM MANAGER

Reporting to the Managing Director, the U.S. Program Manager (USPM) will drive the expansion of our U.S. media presence in a joint program with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and other partners to reduce illegal wildlife consumption. Placing our messages on national television and securing video and billboard space and airports, zoos and other locations, the USPM may be based in Washington DC or San Francisco, but will travel extensively around the country developing partnerships.
In addition they will oversee and expand WildAid’s East Coast relations, primarily with government, NGO partners and media. The successful candidate will bring creativity and resourcefulness to build WildAid’s Washington and East Coast presence driving fundraising and media outreach efforts there. This role is both strategic and hands-on in nature; as well as working with government and partner funders preparing proposals and reports and developing new partnerships.

KEY PRIORITIES
Securing placement for WildAid communications materials in the United States

The USPM will seek out partners including media outlets (TV, billboard, print, social media), zoos and aquaria and airports for placement of WildAid materials. The successful candidate will manage the creation and distribution of compelling content for online, media, publications, press kits and fundraising materials.

Securing and maintaining funding partnerships

WildAid is in advanced discussions on funding opportunities with the US Government as well as multilateral agencies. On the NGOs side WildAid works with WWF, African Wildlife Foundation and RARE, among others and seeks to develop other partnerships. The USPM will liaise with these agencies to prepare proposals, provide reports, secure funding and manage ongoing relations. They will also help build awareness of WildAid’s Marine Protection Program and build partners in this field. The USPM will also recruit and cultivate private foundation and major individual donors, primarily in Washington DC and New York.

KEY COMPETENCIES & IDEAL PROFILE
We seek an innovative, resourceful go-getter who is experienced in developing effective funding partnerships. This individual will be inspired by the opportunity to play a pivotal role in WildAid’s efforts to end the illegal wildlife trade, and develop East Coast relations for WildAid.

Ideal candidates will have five or more years of increasingly responsible roles in programs and or development, preferably at afast-paced, growth-oriented organization. Demonstrated experience in securing partnerships and funding, from inception through implementation is strongly desired.

Experience in media distribution at some level would also be desirable 

WildAid is a small, lean, and growing organization. All staff members must be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, start-up culture. Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple, often competing demands is critical. The successful candidate must be able to work very independently without a great deal of supervision. S/he must also have excellent interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and pro bono partners. Familiarity with environmental advocacy and wildlife protection programs will be an asset.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have a minimum of five years related work experience. Excellent writing and editing skills are necessary for the role, as is extensive experience in dealing with government agencies. Personal qualities of integrity and dedication to WildAid’s mission are important. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
