Are you especially interested in working with live reptiles and amphibians?
Do you have a passion for supporting animal conservation?
Would you like to be part of one of the world’s leading university Museums?

The Manchester Museum has a specialist career opportunity working with live reptiles and amphibians in its Vivarium. We are looking for an individual who would enjoy supporting the conservation of these wonderful creatures and who would be committed to helping us maintain the highest levels of their daily husbandry.

We are looking for someone with meticulous standards and who prides themselves on attention to detail. You must have a caring attitude, have a genuine interest in maintaining reptiles, amphibians, and their associated environments correctly, and have a willingness to adapt to a flexible work pattern as the role develops. Work typically involves the daily maintenance, cleanliness and presentation of the public exhibits and service areas.

A caring attitude towards the animals and an interest in the important contribution the museum is making to conservation is requisite, as one of the main aims of our vivarium is to try and highlight the natural world and encourage a care and commitment to it. It is important that all our visitors to the vivarium have the best possible experience. The Manchester Museum does not take the keeping of animals in captivity lightly and is dedicated to ensuring that all its live reptiles and amphibians are maintained in absolute optimum conditions.

Applicants should be self-motivated and organized individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work alone when required and off their own initiative. You should also have good knowledge of this specialist area of work.

Informal enquiries can be made to Andrew Gray
