Trainee Animal Keeper

Trainee Animal Keeper – Elephants

Woburn Safari Park is a drive-through wild animal park, set in over 300 acres of beautiful Bedfordshire parkland. It forms part of the Bedford Estates, which is home to Woburn Abbey, The Woburn Hotel, Woburn Golf Club and The Sculpture Gallery.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team and work with our Asian elephant herd, consisting of four adults and our newest arrival, Tarli our nine month old elephant calf, which are managed primarily in free contact.

This role will require you to have a passion for working with elephants and a strong commitment to working in the elephant section.  Working within a small team, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced staff and learn about these amazing animals.

The role will be physically demanding as you will assist with all elements of animal husbandry, including cleaning enclosures, feeding and learning about how the animals are trained. There will also be the opportunity to assist with our public demonstrations.

You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and have a proven interest in working with animals. Experience of working with elephants within a free contact environment would be an advantage; however you may have some previous experience of working within an animal environment.

This position is full time working 5 days out of 7. As this will include regular weekend working, a flexible approach to days / hours will be required.

Due to location, you will require your own transport.
