Aquarium Curator

Aquarium Curator

Bristol Aquarium seeks a Curator
Bristol Aquarium has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Curator to join its team.
About our Aquarium
In the heart of Bristol located on the Harbourside, our Aquarium hosts our largest display of native species themed around a sunken ship.  Other displays include an amazing underwater walkthrough tunnel which includes exotic species.  Bristol Aquarium is also unique in that it is the UKs only aquarium with its own ‘Urban Jungle’ - a large botanical house home to an array of plant species as well as Coral Sea display which is home to a number of species of sharks and rays.

About The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Zoological Team through a hands on approach.  You will take responsibility for ensuring the continual development and innovation within the displays areas, leading the delivery of consistently high standards of animal husbandry and displays throughout the management, organisation and continued development of the team.

About you
It is essential that you have previous experience of aquarium curatorial work, covering a broad range of species and aquarium systems.  Your experience and knowledge will be sufficient to allow you to work autonomously.  You will have a flexible approach and positive outlook, with the ability to work without supervision and to respond effectively under pressure.

Our business depends on our guests enjoying their experience and hopefully leaving the aquarium inspired to care more about the environment. To achieve this we rely on recruiting high quality staff who share our vision of exceptional service and who are committed to delivering this every day.
A degree in Marine Biology is highly desirable, however if you can demonstrate excellent, relevant work experience, then this would not be a requirement.
This is a full time post which requires working 5 days a week and includes working regular weekends, bank holidays and school holiday periods.

Benefits
Alongside a competitive salary, we are offering a benefits package that includes a pension plan, 22 days holiday (rising to 25 days following 3 years service) and an Annual Pass into Aspro Parks worldwide.
