EXPERIENCED SECTION HEAD PRIMATES 
(Ref SH/AD/P17/MAT)

Maternity Cover Full Time - Temporary 9 month contract.

Blackpool Zoo is looking for an experienced Section Head, to oversee the day to day running of the Primate section within the zoo’s Animal Department. The role dictates that a ‘hands on’ approach will be required.
They will also help in developing and moving forward the section within the framework of the animal department's aims and objectives in a new and exciting period within Blackpool Zoo’s history. As well as being responsible for your section, you will also be part of the Senior Animal Management team within the zoo.

You will need to be hard working, physically fit, enthusiastic and reliable. You should possess the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) or an equivalent and have a minimum of of 5 years zoo keeping experience with at least 3 years with Primates, plus proven people management skills, all of which are essential.
A previous senior animal staff post and experience of working with great apes would be desirable.
The section currently maintains over 20 species of primates including Red-fronted Lemur, King Colobus, Red Titi, Goeldi’s Monkey, Emperor Tamarin, Black Howler Monkey, L’Hoest’s Monkey, De Brazza Monkey, Pileated Gibbon, Bornean Orang-utan and Western Lowland Gorilla

Salary dependant on experience 

Subsidised single occupancy (on site) accommodation will be available with this post, if required.
