The college is seeking to appoint an Animal Management Centre Technician to contribute to the college’s zoo licensed and BIAZA accredited Animal Management Centre. The role requires someone to specifically contribute towards the care and husbandry of the animals housed on the zoo section of the AMC. The section includes a zoo courtyard (housing various primates, otter, skunk, meerkats and birds), nocturnal room (housing Loris, armadillo, genet and mouse lemur) and native species area (housing wildcat, pine marten and red squirrel). The key responsibilities are developing and maintaining high standards of husbandry and animal welfare as well as the supervision of students during their practical sessions.

You will be expected to have proven knowledge and experience in working with a range of zoo animal species, experience of working with young people and preferably some experience in animal training.

You will maintain and upkeep the curriculum areas, ensuring that the learners’ experience is both positive and rewarding. To meet this aim it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality support to our learners as well as demonstrating exceptional standards of animal welfare.
