An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pro active individual to join us as an aquarist.

About you

Already have relevant experience in the visitor attractions sector working with marine fish and invertebrates and knowledge of aquarium life support systems. Have an infectious enthusiasm for creating stunning and innovative displays and keen to share knowledge with colleagues and guests. A degree or equivalent in a relevant biological science is advantageous.

About the role

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing displays and exhibits - promoting public education and awareness in relation to conservation and delivering a memorable and entertaining experience to visitors. Experience in animal husbandry is essential. This is a hands on role and skills in pipework and maintenance of life support systems and pumps are beneficial. It is desirable, but not essential, that you are qualified to PADI Divemaster or equivalent and hold a valid HSE dive medical.  Dive specific training can be undertaken if not already at this level.

This post is full time, with weekend shifts allocated on a rota basis.

We are a market leader visitor attraction and Scotland’s national aquarium based in North Queensferry.  We host the largest temperate marine display in the UK through its underwater walkthrough tunnel.  Other displays include tropical marine, freshwater, reptiles, amphibians and marine mammals.
