Manchester Museum now offers a specialist career opportunity to work with its live reptiles and amphibians in the Vivarium. We are looking for someone committed who would enjoy supporting the conservation of our rare species and who would be fully focused in helping us maintain the highest levels of their daily husbandry.

We are dedicated to ensuring that all our animals are maintained in absolute optimum conditions. Work will typically involve the daily maintenance of some of the world’s rarest amphibians in our off-display area, together with the cleanliness and presentation of the Vivarium’s public exhibits.

All applicants should be self-motivated and organized individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work alone when required and off their own initiative. They should also have direct experience working with reptiles and amphibians and be able to apply their skills in contributing to the collection’s education and conservation use.

The role is permanent, and will be a minimum of 3 days per week, extending to 5 days on occasion. All the usual benefits of working for Manchester University will of course be fully applicable, including excellent pension package and holiday entitlements. The salary for this position is £20,411 to £22,214 (pro rata) per annum according to relevant experience.
