Salary: £26,093 - £29,472 inclusive of London
Weighting and Weekend Enhancement (Commensurate on experience)

Role
Profile:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Experienced
Trainer/Presenter on the Animal Activities section at ZSL London Zoo. The
Animal Activities section is responsible for the delivery of a number of live
animal displays as well as the running of the visitor focused Animal Adventure
exhibit.
This position will mainly involve supporting the Team
Leader and Lead keeper in the daily running and delivery of the educational
live animal displays. In addition to this the candidate will be expected to
help train a variety of animals for the displays, devise new routines and
assist with script writing.
The successful candidate will also be expected
to:
- Observe the behaviour, health and security of animals and report
any problems to the Team Leader or manager including defects or repairs
required to enclosures and relevant departments required to support work
needed.
- Assist with the preparation of approved diets and carrying out the
correct feeding procedures.
- Adhere to the highest industry standards of zoo husbandry and welfare.
The successful candidate will:
- Have extensive presenting experience with live Animal
demonstrations.
- Have a thorough knowledge of training techniques.
- Have extensive practical experience of training both Birds and
Mammals.
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to clearly convey
instruction.
- Be able to use Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel and
Word.
- Have a qualification in a relevant field at university level and/or
diploma in the DZMAA Keeper’s course or equivalent work experience.
- Be reliable and have good time-keeping and attendance record and
able to demonstrate leadership and professionalism.
- Be a positive influence on the section.
- Work with energy and enthusiasm.
Please note: Flexible
working is required for this position which will include working alternate
weekends and bank holidays.
