The Oceanarium is
seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active supervisor to join the team and continue
and develop exceptional standards of quality and care in the animal and
education department.
Firmly established
as one of the area’s most popular visitor attractions, the Oceanarium is home
to a diverse range of creatures - from sharks, penguins and otters, to turtles
and crocodiles.
The animal and
education supervisor must maintain the highest standards of animal welfare,
husbandry and nutrition, ensuring all zoo licence regulations and BIAZA
guidelines are adhered to and that related operational and administrative
responsibilities are fulfilled.
This role is
responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness and operation of all the
Oceanarium exhibits, and ensuring the offering of regular talks, feeds and
interactive opportunities in order to provide a captivating, educational, and
immersive experience for visitors throughout the day.
The role also
includes the effective and safe maintenance of quarantine and off show
facilities, as well as the plantroom and LSS for all exhibits.
The ideal candidate
will have several years of experience in public aquaria, working with a wide
variety of creatures and systems as well as some staff supervision. Relevant
qualifications are an advantage along with an organised, structured approach
and can-do outlook.
A salary of £19,300
is offered along with a 15% performance related bonus, company pension scheme
and life assurance.
This full time
position includes on-call responsibilities on a rota basis as well as weekend
and bank holiday working.
