AQUARIST
The job holder is
responsible for the daily care of all the animals within the Dubai Aquarium
& Underwater Zoo.
Key Accountabilities:
Animal Care:
- Provides assistance to the Lead Aquarist Assists the Curator, Assistant Curator, Senior Supervisor, and Supervisors in maintaining animal care in the highest level of quality.
- Follows established written standards and protocols for all exhibits to ensure the highest standards for water quality, operational efficiency, cleanliness and animal health where sustain.
- Performs daily routine of cleaning, maintenance, feeding and other husbandry activities.
- Ensures that all aquarium exhibits and Life Support System areas are checked.
Reports:
- Provides feedback to superiors on improvements to animal care, Life Support System, exhibits and activities/protocols.
- Provides report on the issues and gives assistance on the implementation of actions to rectify any faulty equipment.
- Identifies and reports to the supervisor on problems related to animal health or water quality.
- Provides assistance in developing action plan on proper manner of handling animal care and treatment.
- Maintains all curatorial areas so they are safe and clean.
- Assists the Supervisor in maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment and animal food items.
- Provides assistance in ongoing aquarium research projects, both internally and externally.
- Undertakes diving for maintenance, feeds, etc.
- Ensures adherence to company diving safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintains documentation and databases for diving, livestock (animal health and behaviour, acquisitions and mortalities), water quality, etc, where asked.
- Completes assigned tasks within given deadlines.
Customer Services:
Delivers
extraordinary customer service to all aquarium guests and other customers and
ensures high level of customer service
Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
Behaves in line with
the code of conduct and adheres to the applicable company policy &
procedures
Job Context:
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Qualification:
Higher School degree
in Biology, preferably Marine Biology or Oceanography
Open Water SCUBA
certification from a recognized training agency.
Experience:
Minimum 3-4 years of
experience in related field
Experience in
maintaining an aquarium.
Skills:
Good computer skills
preferable.
Current Dubai
driver’s license preferable.
Basic English
Language skills required.
Communicate clearly
and precisely (written & oral).
