Howletts Wild Animal Park, based in Kent, is seeking a passionate, experienced, hardworking and motivated animal keeper to work with a small team of enthusiastic and likeminded keepers on our carnivore section. Howletts works in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation; a charity committed to the conservation of rare and endangered animals through breeding and reintroduction programmes.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of species from Honey badgers to Sumatran tigers and contribute to the breeding programmes of species such as Asian wild dogs and Clouded leopards.

The Role
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake general husbandry duties, livestock dispatch and butchery, basic enclosure furnishing, maintenance tasks, and record keeping. On occasion, the post holder may be asked to supervise the team. You will have the opportunity to develop your professional skills and abilities, and to contribute towards future plans for the section.
The position is full time, 40 hours per week, working five days a week and will include weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for a team player who is also confident to work alone.  Ideally, you will have gained DMZAA or an equivalent qualification, or be prepared to undertake this. The role is physically demanding and will involve heavy lifting, so you will need to have a good level of physical fitness. You will also need to be comfortable working at height to perform enclosure maintenance duties.
A valid full UK driving licence is essential.

All applicants must have right to work in the UK
