Paignton Zoo, one of the largest in the UK and a registered scientific and education charity has an exciting opportunity for a cover keeper to join our Mammals team on a fixed term basis.

You will be responsible for the hands-on day-to-day husbandry of a large and diverse collection of mammals, focusing on animal welfare, bio-security, record keeping and ensuring that exhibits are maintained to the highest standards.

You will have at least 2 years of prior experience working with Mammal species in a zoological collection or similar establishment, preferably working with a wide variety of mammals. You will have a broad knowledge of husbandry practices and how they are implemented and be reliable with good time-keeping and attendance.  Hoof stock experience would be an advantage.

This is a fixed term position for 12 months working 38.75 hours a week.

Interviews are planned for week beginning 5th April 2021

This vacancy has been posted out to the many thousands who read the popular Zoo Jobs Blog Page and then on to the 129,400 plus followers of the  ZooNews Digest Facebook Page. It is then immediately forwarded on to Twitter and then to Pinterest and Linkedin (8,000+ connections). Many vacancies are shared to individuals and groups. In short your vacancy will have the potential of reaching something in the region of some 80,000 plus people within 24 hours.
