Executive Director

Executive Director

Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden

Job Title: Executive Director, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) Location: Hong Kong, China

Background:

Spread over 150 hectares of forest and farmland, KFBG had its genesis as a base for the Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association, a groundbreaking partnership between the Kadoorie family and the Hong Kong government, to resettle hundreds of thousands of Mainland Chinese refugees in the 1950s and 60s. With the need for such aid on the decline, KFBG was re-purposed as a centre for nature conservation and education and re-established via an Ordinance passed by the Hong Kong Legislative Council in 1995.

Known for its iconic beauty and decades of service to Hong Kong, KFBG yet remains primarily reliant on funding from the Kadoorie family. However, there is now an increasing need to raise funds from external sources, to sustain and evolve KFBG programmes. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity: to raise more awareness of our work and deepen the engagement of the public.

As the world faces multiple, deepening, interconnected crises, KFBG’s programmes and its holistic approach incorporating both scientific and spiritual perspectives and integrating nature conservation with sustainable living – are growing ever more important, as the organization enters a new phase of its development.
