Zoo, one of the largest in the UK and a registered scientific and education
charity has an exciting opportunity for an experienced keeper to join our Bird
team.
You will be
responsible for the hands-on day-to-day husbandry of a large and diverse
collection of birds, focusing on animal welfare, bio-security, record keeping
and ensuring that exhibits are maintained to the highest standards.
You will
have at least 2 years of prior experience working with bird species in a
zoological collection or similar establishment, preferably working with a wide
variety of taxa and will have completed the DMZAA course or will have over 4
years’ experience. You will have a broad knowledge of husbandry practices
and how they are implemented and be reliable with good time-keeping and attendance.
An enthusiasm to be part of the broader living collections team and experience
of engagement with the public.
This is a
full time fixed term position to cover Maternity Leave working 38.75 hours per
week over 5 days on a rota basis, there will be a requirement to work weekends.
The salary for the position is £20,210.45 - £21,782.15 dependent on experience.
