Zoolokal is a private BIAZA associate member collection located in Hammersmith in West London.

We house a range of bird, mammal, reptile and amphibian species. We currently participate in several EAZA ex situ programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Animal Keeper who, in conjunction with the management, can develop and maintain the high standards of animal welfare.

The role involves working 2 days a week as standard including some bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis.

Additional hours will be available to cover annual leave and other circumstances.

The successful applicant must have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, with a passion for the natural world and conservation. A good eye for detail and high standards for animal husbandry is a must.

Key Responsibilities

· Diet preparation, feeding and routine cleaning and maintenance of a range of species and enclosures.

· To ensure the highest standard of animal welfare is being adhered to.

· Enrichment and husbandry training for a range of species.

· Working effectively alongside a small team of keepers and volunteers.

· To ensure records and other relevant documents are kept up to date.

· Occasional onsite maintenance

Key skills and requirements

· Experience with a range of animals within a zoological environment is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

· Must have a can-do attitude.

· Strong verbal communication skills

· An excellent time keeper.
