Team-leader position
DUBLIN ZOO holds the prestigious position of being ‘Ireland’s number one Fee Paying Family Attraction’ welcoming in excess of one million visitors each year.
Dublin Zoo is currently seeking a confident zoo professional who is a highly motivated, self starter to take on the leadership of a highly skilled and professional team of keepers.
This person will continue to lead the elephant team in the development and evolution of Dublin Zoo’s Asian Elephant Program and oversee best practice animal care in a protected environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on member of the Elephant Team and will require a high level of competency in understanding progressive training techniques, blood sampling, foot care, calf and bull management and have the ability to maintain a comprehensive record management system.
An important component of this position will be to supervise, roster, support and assist the animal care team members within the Elephant Department, consistent performance to overall Zoo management standards and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years supervisory experience preferably within a protected contact Elephant Program and must have an understanding and appreciation of Dublin Zoo’s ethics, research, education programs and conservation involvements.
