Full Time (working 45 hours over 5 days
a week including one weekend day and a requirement to work bank holidays)
Salary:
circa £32,000 per annum

Wings Zoo is a small but forward-thinking and dynamic organisation with an
emphasis on interaction and education.
You
will have responsibility for driving income and effectively managing costs
across the zoo to ensure a focus on profit from commercial activities. This
role is accountable for achieving the income and profit budgets for a number of
key revenue streams across commercial operations for the zoo including
admission income, donations, catering, retail, experiences. Whilst maintaining a clear focus on a
sustainable commercial offer, you’ll also possess vision, energy and creativity
to deliver a first class experience to our increasing audiences that ensures
visitor satisfaction and long term loyalty.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
-Responsibility for 5 direct reports, approximately 25 permanent retail, admissions, zoo keeping and catering staff as well as a large intake of seasonal staff.
-Effective and efficient implementation of the annual commercial business plan for the Zoo.
-Ownership of the commercial visitor journey for the Zoo and implementation of commercial growth and development plans and the achievement of measurable success metrics
-Strong collaboration with all areas of the Zoo to ensure the success of the business.

Person Specification:
-Strong operational management of commercial business activities within tourism or leisure and retail sectors.
-Strong commercial literacy and use of management information reporting and business case creation
-An inspirational leader and a confident professional manner and well developed interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work well in cross-functional teams and at a senior level as representative of commercial function.
-Accomplished business acumen and be able to discuss commercial performance verbally.
-Positive and professional attitude with ability to tailor communications appropriate to different audiences.
-This is a broad role which requires strong time management and prioritisation skills in order to be effective.
