Job Title: Assistant Keeper

Term: Part-time

Function: Assisting in the care of growing collection of British native and once native wildlife

Site Line Manager: Escot General Manager

Salary: Minimum wage

This flexible role will be within a small team at Wildwood Escot. We are looking for a highly motivated person, who is practical and hard working. Experience with animal keeping is essential and the post will be ideally suited to someone who has had work experience in a zoo or animal park. Please refer to the job description for specifically required criteria. This role will suit a fit, practical person who can work outdoors during all weathers doing a physically demanding job.
Wildwood Trust is a unique British charity, dedicated to rewilding Britain through the restoration of wild habitats and reintroduction of extinct species. Wildwood took over the running of Escot Park in Devon to develop a new rewilding visitor centre. Our mission is to inform and inspire people about the wildlife that was once harboured in our wild woods and wild places and give them the inspiration, skills and ability to play an active role in its protection & restoration.

The post holder will:
• Care for our collection of British native and once native wildlife
• Build and maintain our natural woodland animal enclosures
• Help educate the public through talks and demonstrations about our animals
• Help our conservation projects to promote wildlife conservation
You will be assisting a small keeper team leading the care of our growing collection of British native and formerly native wildlife.
