SEASONAL ZOO RANGER
(July – September)

We are Chester Zoo, and for over 80 years we’ve been a leading conservation and education charity, and an amazing, award-winning visitor attraction.

Our award winning Discovery and Learning Team is central to our visitors’ experience and their engagement with animals and conservation issues which we deliver through diverse, fun and exciting means. 

It’s the summer of Play! at the zoo and we are on the on the search for a Seasonal Zoo Ranger to join our team to deliver fun, engaging public education around the zoo. This will include one to one engagement, exhibit supervision and other educational activities.  Audiences vary from 1 to 500 or more, and there is lots of public interaction requiring a confident and outgoing personality.

The successful candidate will have:
·       a good knowledge of the natural world and conservation
·       the ability to deliver high quality public engagement opportunities, communicating science and conservation in a playful and enthusiastic manner
·       the adaptability to be able to tailor delivery to a variety of audiences
·       a dynamic and creative mind
·       enthusiasm for conservation, education and public engagement
·       excellent customer services skills
·       the ability to work on their own as well as a part of a busy team
·       good organisational and time management skills

Experience of working in the zoo education field as well as knowledge of Chester Zoo’s animal collection and conservation work would be an advantage.

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This is a temporary position until 3rd September 2017, working 32.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. This will include weekends and Bank Holidays as rostered, and may include evening work. Working hours are flexible around zoo opening hours and extra events.
