Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre


The Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre has an exciting internship opportunity available.
The successful applicant will be assisting the Animal Team over the summer period from 17th July – 5th September 2017, on a voluntary basis, up to 40 hours per week.

Internship Specification:
Duties will include:
•        Assisting animal staff including animal handling, and learning information on the animals
•        Preparing, food and feeding the animals
•        Cleaning indoor and outdoor enclosures, as well as staff areas
•        Any other duties as reasonably required (full training will be given on all duties)

Required Skills:
Previous experience in animal care is an advantage but full training will be given.

Person Specification:
Successful applicants will be hard-working, reliable, responsible, and trustworthy. A positive, confident and friendly personality is a must, in order to fit in with our enthusiastic team and represent the Tropical Butterfly House to visitors.
Please note that we expect the same commitment, dedication and reliability from our volunteers as we do our staff members and applicants must successfully complete a trial day before a voluntary position will be offered.
Due to the physically demanding nature of this internship, it may only be suitable for agile people.
