Keeper
Colchester Zoo
Colchester Zoo is
seeking an experienced and highly motivated animal keeper to join its mammal
department. The successful candidate will be working in a team of six keepers
and reporting directly to the head of section. This diverse section is
responsible for the daily management and husbandry of many of the zoos
carnivores including sun bears and Amur leopards as well as primates and giant
anteaters. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to;
cleaning of exhibits, feeding and general care and welfare of the animals and
associated tasks.
A keen interest in
behavioural enrichment and experience of animal husbandry training would be
desirable.
The ideal applicant will have worked for a
minimum of one year in a recognised zoological institution and it is expected
that you will have been awarded an HND or degree level qualification in a
zoological related science. However, due consideration will be given to the
individuals own level of zoological experience and academic achievement.
This is a full time
position working 40 hours per week on a flexible rota as necessary.
