We currently have an
exciting vacancy for a Safari Ranger to join our award winning Discovery &
Learning team.
The Safari Ranger is
required to devise and deliver exciting and engaging workshop sessions as part
of our outreach programme to local schools and community groups. The workshops
act as stand-alone sessions, as pre-visit primers to prepare students’ for a
visit and/or form part of Safari Ranger led projects enabling deeper levels of
learning and participation. Through all of our education work we aim to inspire
people to love nature and take action to protect it.
Our approach to
education is highly participatory so candidates will be expected to be outgoing
and enthusiastic in their teaching style, with a creative and highly
professional approach to workshop and resource development. You will be
required to work in partnership with teachers to ensure that our work in
schools meets the needs of the national curriculum, alongside our Chester Zoo
learning objectives.
The successful
candidate will have:
•
A good knowledge of zoo based conservation and the natural world, most
likely gained through a Zoo Biology/Conservation-related degree.
•
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to
engage with a wide range of different audiences.
•
Experience developing and delivering engaging workshops to schools.
•
Knowledge of the schools education sector, including issues such as
safeguarding and SEND.
•
a full driving licence which is valid in the UK
The salary for this
role £7,653.44 per annum based on 14 hours per week working on a Monday and
Tuesday, on occasion it may be necessary to work at other times for which time
off in lieu will be given. In addition we offer a range of amazing benefits including:

Holidays are to be

our salary scale is not based on LEA scales.
