Overview of Role:
The Zoological Society of London is looking for a Qualified Keeper on the Park Birds Section based at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. The main purpose of the qualified keeper position is to manage the day to day operational duties relating to animal husbandry and visitor interaction within the section. You will be responsible to the section Team Leader or other key senior animal department staff within the section. Working within this department gives the successful applicant experience of a captive breeding and release program with the corncrake and also numerous other high profile species which include, Wattled cranes and also the blue crowned laughing thrush.

The successful candidate will be required to have:
•        Previous experience of aviculture in a zoo or equivalent environment.
•        A qualification in zoo animal management such as the DMZAA or equivalent level of work experience.
•        Good communication skills, enthusiasm, and an outgoing and friendly personality. 
•        A full driving licence - essential.

•        A full driving licence is essential.

We are seeking a confident, outgoing, full time zoo keeper with a minimum of three years' experience working for a zoo or in a similar animal environment.  An outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively with the general public (including undertaking keeper talks) are essential.

Wingham Wildlife Park has an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic individuals wanting to gain valuable zoo animal keeping experience, working alongside keepers on the primate section.

We are looking for candidates who are willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months, volunteering 5 full working days per week including weekends, school holidays and bank holidays. With a start date of 27th February 2017.

The internship is unpaid and would benefit those who have either already gained or are working towards an animal management or similar qualification. As well as individuals who are already established in conservation or animal care and looking for further specialist zoo experience. Experience within a zoo setting and in particular primates would be desirable. 

A driving licence or access to good public transport is essential and please be aware that unfortunately we are unable to offer accommodation.

Wingham Wildlife Park is a family run wildlife park with big emphasis on animal husbandry, conservation, education and safety for our animals, staff and visitors. This section covers a large variety of species ranging from callitrichidae, lemurs, mandrills, macaques & apes.

Deputy Team Leader : Large Mammals

Twycross Zoo is at a very exciting stage of development with the first phase of a 20 year masterplan already underway. The plan will see the zoo developing new habitats for a refreshed animal collection.

We currently have a vacancy for a Deputy Team Leader to work on our Large Mammals section. This area manages a range of ungulate and carnivore species including zebra, nyala, tapir, amur leopard, snow leopard, meerkat, Kirk’s dik dik, Asian elephant and giraffe.

Key Responsibilities:
· A hands-on role, working on the section
· Supervising all areas of daily animal husbandry
· Developing, supervising and training staff
· Taking administrative responsibility alongside other senior staff within the Large Mammals section

Key Skills & Requirements:
· High performing and enthusiastic
· Proven track record of zoo animal management
· Substantial experience of zoological animal management, with at least 8 years’ relevant experience
· Able to demonstrate good working knowledge of the natural history and management of large mammals
· Good team worker with positive outlook
· Excellent communication and IT skills
· Committed to continued professional development of yourself and others
· An animal related qualification such as ANCMZA or DZMAA

The role is on a permanent contract and is a full time position (working on average 5 days out of 7) , including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly with and 31 days paid holiday per annum (pro-rata). Uniform is also provided
