our vibrant organisation!
As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell
Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people
about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion
to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create
through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of
exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who
share our passion and bring our vision to life.
We
are looking for a full time Veterinary Nurse that will assist in the delivery of veterinary services at Marwell Wildlife.
Marwell
has a well-equipped veterinary hospital including remote-chemical
immobilisation and field anaesthesia equipment, digital radiography, portable
ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy and laboratory facilities.
This
post will focus principally on supporting the zoo veterinarians in delivering
the preventative health care programme, whilst providing day-to-day care for
the animals in the collection. In addition the candidate will facilitate animal
transfers, coordinate student placements and assist with the management of the
veterinary practice at Marwell.
Experience
and knowledge of zoological or wildlife veterinary nursing would be an
advantage. This includes zoo animal nursing, zoo anaesthetic monitoring, and an
understanding of the role of the veterinary service in the modern zoological
collection. Candidates should have experience of maintaining a modern
veterinary hospital. We operate to the highest standards of welfare and the
veterinary nurse role will support this.
Applicants
must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse, hold a minimum of two years veterinary
nursing experience and a full drivers licence valid for the UK. Candidates with
higher qualifications in zoo nursing or applicable disciplines are preferred.
This
is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.
