An exciting opportunity has arisen
at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre to oversee our renowned Toad Hall and
amphibian collection. Home to a large and diverse collection of amphibians,
Toad Hall is a highlight for Slimbridge visitors. It is one of the largest
amphibian collections in the UK and includes some unusual captive species such
as Lake Titikaka frogs and Javan horned frogs. Behind the scenes, the
collection has a well-maintained breeding facility where several rare species
have been bred including some exciting firsts in captive amphibian management
such as sword tailed newts.
This is an exciting time to join
the presentations team ahead of the completion of our Living Collection Plan
later this year, which includes plans to diversify the ectotherm collection.
The successful candidate will work
alongside our Deputy Living Collections Manager for Animal Presentations,
maintaining and developing this unique and exciting collection. They will be
passionate about educating the public on the plight of amphibians and wetland habitats.
