Could
this be the most unusual job in Bristol…?
Dinosaur
keeper wanted at Bristol Zoo
OK, our maintenance team will do
the ‘keeping’ –the dinosaurs are not real after all. But we do need some
DinoRangers. There are three positions available: A Lead DinoRanger at 35 hours
per week, and two DinoRangers at 32.5 hours per week, all 18th March
to 4th September 2013.
We are after energetic,
fun-loving, theatrically-minded people to enhance our guests’ enjoyment of our
Dinozoo2 exhibition. You will be on hand to entertain and engage Zoo guests
with 12 huge animatronic dinosaurs, and also with the history and science of
dinosaur discovery, with special reference to Thecodontosaurus.
You may be in costume (an explorer, palaeontologist or quarryman),
leading tours, answering questions, running impromptu games. You may also
supervise guests on an interactive fossil dig, give dinosaur talks and
contribute to dinosaur-themed birthday parties. The Lead DinoRanger will
coordinate the team on a daily basis, and will also lead DinoSafari sessions for
pre-booked groups.
The team will be working in shifts
to cover seven days a week, and there will also be booked evening tours and
events, so we are looking for people able to commit to some unsociable working
hours – but you will have a lot of fun.
Full details including job descriptions, person
specifications and an application form are available at www.bristolzoo.org.uk.
If you would like to apply, please
send a full CV, covering letter and completed application form to Sarah Eason,
Payroll/HR Administrator, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 3HA to
reach us no later than 3pm, Wednesday, 13th February. Interviews will
be held on Tuesday, 19th February 2013. Please clearly mark you
envelope ‘Dino Ranger application’. Email applications will not be accepted.
Due to the expected number of applications we will only be contacting those
shortlisted for interview.
