SeaWorld Abu
Dhabi is looking for a General Curator to join our pre-opening team. In this
role, you will provide leadership and resources to the Zoological
Department, including all animal, veterinary, animal life support/habitat,
and education operations.
Your role is
to foster the care and welfare of the entire animal collection,
and the maintenance and design of animal facilities at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
You'll Inspire the development of impactful educational and animal related
programming; leads zoo revenue programs to successfully grow the business
without compromising safety or quality. Manages labor and expense budgets.
The job
scope includes:
- Leads, supports, and coordinates
of all zoological disciplines for SeaWorld Abu Dhabi
- Maintains and continuously
improves high standards of zoological practice and facilities that meet or
exceed all professional zoo/aquarium accreditation standards
- Develops zoological teams and
colleagues
- Maintains open and continuous
lines of communication with the General Manager and other
department leaders as an integral member of the facility operating
team
- Engages and collaborates with
Farah Experiences leadership team on business initiatives
- Responsible for adherence to all
legal, regulatory and company policies within the Zoological department
- Ensures compliance with
zoological requirements of all agreements entered into between Farah and
SEA, including the Definitive
- Provides strategic direction and
contribution to the planning, organization and implementation of the facility’s short/long
term plans and goals
- Responsible for the Zoological
department headcount budget and planning
- Plans and develops the
department’s annual operating budget in coordination with the Finance
Business Partner and the General Manager
- Works with the Facility
Leadership team to develop and manage revenue programs
- Supports the development of
future attractions and interaction programs for the facility
- Develops the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi
animal collection including all aspects of behavior, health and husbandry,
acquisition and disposition, guest contact and interaction programs, in
line with SEA global zoological goals and initiatives
- Promotes a culture of colleagues
and animal safety; drives compliance with existing safety policies
while encouraging the review and renewal
- Ensures any noncompliance and/or
safety related incidents are promptly investigated and corrective
action taken as needed in conjunction with the HSE and/or HR
- Collaborates with the Marketing
team to promote a positive image of the facility and company
- Participates in developing
long-range goals and objectives, including capital planning
- Reviews analysis of activities,
costs, operations and forecast data to determine progress towards stated
goals and objectives
- Supports the General Manger in
identifying and monitoring key results and financial performance
To be
considered for the role, you will need:
- Advanced degree (Masters, PhD,
or DVM) in the Zoological field to include animal sciences, education,
other natural sciences or related disciplines, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
- 15 years of employment
experience in a zoo, aquarium, oceanarium organization and animal
conservation communities
- 5 or more years of experience as
a General Curator or equivalent zoo primary leadership role
- 5 years of experience with
in-park revenue programs and in the development and oversight of zoological
budgets
- Demonstrates high-level business
acumen and working knowledge of industry developments
- Extensive leadership,
communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent with professional
zoo/aquarium and animal behavior and conservation communities
- Advanced computer skills,
including MS Office applications
