Senior Bird Keeper, based at ZSL London Zoo
(with promotion to Deputy Team Leader, Birds after probation)
c. £29,000 p.a. inclusive of allowances, depending on experience
ZSL is now looking to recruit a Deputy Team Leader for the Bird Section at ZSL London Zoo. In keeping with the responsibilities and require skills of the post it is essential that applicants have a significant and diverse experience of aviculture within a Zoo environment and sound experience in a supervisory position.
You will be fully familiar with accepted husbandry practises and standards and have a deep interest in breeding programmes and conservation. The successful applicant will be responsible for working closely with the Team Leader and deputizing where required. You will be actively involved with the day-to-day running and management of section. Along with good administrative skills and the ability to organise and motivate staff, you will be expected to give a strong commitment to raising the profile of ZSL through your work especially via linkage with relevant organizations such as BIAZA and EAZA. The ability to work as part of a team is essential as are excellent communication skills.
A relevant zoo keeping qualification is required. Benefits include a pension plan, interest free season ticket loan and a subsidized staff restaurant.
