About the Role
The responsibilities of the Displays Supervisor will be varied, challenging, but extremely rewarding. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Zoological Team to ensure the team achieve the highest standard of animal care and husbandry.

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing displays and exhibits - promoting public education and awareness in relation to conservation of biodiversity and delivering a memorable and entertaining experience to our guests. The role will also entail hands-on work within the Aquarium’s exhibits in addition to supervisory duties.
As a key part of our aquarium management team you will be required to carry out some duty management. This post is full time, with weekend shifts allocated on a rota basis.

This is full time post working 5 days over 7 and includes regular weekends and bank holidays.

About You
Already an experienced Aquarist with knowledge of both marine and freshwater systems you will have infectious enthusiasm for creating stunning and innovative displays and keen to share knowledge with your team and guests.
A degree or equivalent in a relevant biological science is advantageous, but previous relevant experience in the visitor attractions sector is essential.

Animal Records Registrar

Twycross Zoo is at a very exciting stage of development with the first phase of a 20 year masterplan already underway. The plan will see the zoo developing new habitats for a refreshed animal collection.
We currently have a vacancy for an Animal Records Registrar to work in our Veterinary section.

Key Responsibilities:
· Keeping animal records up to date using software as designated by the Zoo, ensuring that quality of data is maintained to highest degree and that records are retained for at least 10 years or longer as per current legislation
· Serve as liaison with Species360 and inform of any new developments
· Respond to all requests for information, both internal and external, in a professional and timely manner
· Oversee the deployment and management of ZIMS across all departments of the zoo
· Liaise with Registrars at other zoos to promote best practice
· Arrange animal transfers, working alongside the Vet Department and Curatorial Department, to ensure the successful execution of animal movements
· Serve as liaison with Defra and other government agencies to ensure that all national and international regulations related to movements of animals are adhered to
· Maintain files of documents related to animal transfers in order to comply with legislation and internal procedures
· Liaise with other institutions and Defra to ensure and promote best practice
· Support Life Sciences department in all aspects related to record keeping
· Produce regular management reports

Key Skills & Requirements:
· IT literate and proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook; knowledge of ZIMS is desirable
· Ideally educated to degree level in science/animal related subject
· Ability to understand and explain complex legislation
· Must demonstrate good organisational and admin skills
· The ability to work well in a team and on own initiative

The role is permanent full time and includes weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform and 31 days holiday per annum (including bank holidays).

Permanent Position, working 80 hours per fortnight
Salary £18,217 per annum

Bristol Zoological Society has a position for a Qualified Keeper on its mammal section at the Bristol Zoo Gardens site in Clifton, Bristol.  This is a practical position assisting in all aspects of management and husbandry of the Zoo’s mammal collection. You will need to have a good level of physical fitness.

The successful applicant will be an experienced zoo mammal keeper with a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification together with experience of working full-time within a recognised animal collection, ideally with primates. Ape experience would be an advantage. A positive outlook, the ability to work within a team and having a good knowledge of the conservation and educational roles of zoos is also required. We are looking for excellent communication skills, written and oral, as well as knowledge of animal training. You will be expected to engage with our guests and deliver regular talks.

This position is permanent, working 80 hours per fortnight as part of the departmental 14 day rota, which includes weekends and bank holidays. It may also include occasional evening work.

Woodside Wildlife Park is a hand’s on, friendly, family run small zoo, situated near Langworth, Lincoln. We have a wide range of animals from tropical butterflies to tigers and crocodiles to wolves.
The successful candidate will work in all area’s and all departments.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team.
The position is full time and starts immediately.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
                Deliver talks and presentations to school groups and at public shows.
                Feed, clean out and provide enrichment for animals.
                Maintain accurate records and identify areas for improvement.
              
Candidate:
                Excellent interpersonal skills.
                Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task.
                Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
                A minimum of two years previous experience of working with a range of       relevant species is desired.
                A relevant animal qualification is desired.

Pay will be commensurate with age and experience.

We currently have an exciting vacancy for an Assistant Team Manager on one of our large and varied Bird teams.

The role:
The role will involve assisting the Team Manager in the daily management of the Parrots and Penguins section along with mentoring, training and developing the team under the direction of the Team Manager.

The successful candidate will be able to develop and implement new ideas for improving husbandry, building strong working relationships with other departments to ensure standards are met.

This role will also involve representing Chester Zoo and the Parrot team for media interviews and internal and external meetings, workshops and conferences in the UK and overseas.

The successful candidate will have:
•        A HND or degree level qualification in a zoological related science or equivalent practical experience
•        Extensive knowledge and expertise in all aspects of bird husbandry and practical avicultural management in a zoological institution
•        Experience of supervising a team and will have the ability to organise and prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment
•        A good understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices
•        Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•        A full driving licence valid in the UK

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Keeper to join us on the Elephant section. For the right candidate, this post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a breeding family unit of Asian elephants.

Chester Zoo aims to set a benchmark for animal welfare and the successful candidate must be able to deliver an excellent level of animal husbandry, care and welfare for the assigned mammals; ensuring that all enclosures and facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards. 
The successful candidate will have:
•        A HND or degree level qualification in a zoological related science or equivalent experience
•        Proven experience in the care and management of large mammal species including Giraffe, Rhinos and Elephants, in a zoo or safari park setting, as well as the highest standards of exhibitry
•        Outstanding observational skills with excellent attention to detail
•        Experience implementing environmental enrichment
•        Experience of working within strict Safe Working Practices

Competency in the use of computers and basic software packages, including ZIMS software, would be advantageous for this role in order to maintain accurate records. 

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, worked 10 days out of 14, including weekends and Bank Holidays as rostered.
