Farm, African Wildlife/ Bird breeding farm ) Prefer someone with 8 to 10 yrs
Safari Park experience, South Africa or African countries.
Is responsible for
the day to day management of a team of permanent staff. Ensuring the highest
standards of welfare, husbandry and staff safety. The successful applicant will
also have extensive experience in the capture, restraint, quarantine and transport
of animals and be expected to ensure the accurate maintenance of all animal
records and departmental administration. You'll be looking after breeding farms
of game and wildlife such as Zebra, springbok, giraffe. A bird farm for
breeding of Macaw, African Grey parrot to name a few of many breeds that you'll
be required to look after and manage.
The successful
applicant will also be expected to have a comprehensive grasp of the commercial
constraints under which the farms operate and support other senior managers in
furthering the farms commercial aims.
In this senior
management role, the manager will be expected to liaise with other senior
management in the delivery of the farms obligations under licensing and other
statutory requirements, as well as its aims in collection planning/management
including the design and modification of enclosures, dietary plans, health
surveillance, biosecurity, and the development and implementation of research
projects.
This is a permanent
position with a start date as soon as is possible. Salary is dependent on
qualifications and experience.
This is an isolated
farm as are other farms you will be looking after. Nice farm house, vehicle,
medical included in package. Must be used to remote living and working with
different nationalities. Would suit a single male, possible couple if wife is
in similar field, example a veterinarian or experience in wildlife too.
