Site Manager



Twycross Zoo is seeking a capable and effective individual with proven people management skills to head the Estates department which is responsible for the Zoo’s 90 acre site.

Prior experience of managing and developing a multi-functional site of at least 50 acres is essential.

Our site has many challenges; there are grounds and gardens to develop and maintain, retail and catering buildings and facilities to keep in good operational and legislative order, a nature reserve to tend, office buildings to maintain and not least many existing animal house and enclosures to upkeep to species specific requirements.  New onsite developments are anticipated, so project management skills, construction procurement experience and building regulations knowledge are necessary, as is the ability to work well within a team.

This is a big and exciting job and we need a ‘big’ person to fill it and excite our in house teams to perform to the highest standards and to a structured work plan. 

Twycross Zoo - East Midland Zoological Society Limited, is the World Primate Centre.  The Zoo has a comprehensive collection of primate species, together with other mammals, birds and reptiles.  With over 850 animals, the Zoo has exciting plans to further its work in the conservation of endangered species and is striving to achieve the best in animal welfare, research, conservation and education. 
We have more to do and as the Zoo develops we are looking for dynamic, knowledgeable individuals to help lead the teams forward.

An empathy with the charity’s objectives of high animal welfare standards, involvement in animal conservation and public education would be helpful. 

The role is full time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly, with 31 days paid holiday per annum and 5% employer’s pension contribution (after qualifying period).
