An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Animal Keeper to join Eccles Sixth Form College, within the Animal, Equine and Veterinary Nursing department. The College has recently seen a significant investment to the facilities and is going through the early stages of gaining Zoo Status. The successful applicant will be expected to lead a small team of Animal Keeping staff and oversee the day to day management of a an ever growing animal collection, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare at all times. The College boasts a unique collection of animals which ranges across all taxa. Additionally, the college is part of a number of breeding programmes including ESB’s and EEP’s and plans to expand upon its conservation efforts.
The successful candidate should have a sound knowledge of working with a variety of domestic and exotic species and a passion for leading a team. The role will require evening and weekend work on a rotor basis.
