An exciting opportunity has arisen for a zoo veterinarian based at the zoo at Drayton Manor, home to more than 600 animals, comprising over 140 species over a range of taxa all located in the Midlands favourite family theme park!

The zoo is a member of both BIAZA and EAZA and has already begun its’s journey of redevelopment as part of its longer- term strategy.

Overview
The primary focus of this role is on the animal health management of the living collection. You will collaborate with the Head of Zoo Operations on achieving the highest possible standards of animal welfare and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities
• Assume primary responsibility for the management of animal health at the zoo.
• Manage the relevant regulatory obligations associated with the role.
• Contribute to continually improving standards of animal welfare and management.
• Oversight of the operation and development of the veterinary facilities at the zoo.
• Manage resources within agreed budgetary limits.

Requirements
The successful applicant will require MRCVS status, significant experience, good clinical skills and a proven desire to work in  the field of zoo animal medicine. Relevant MSc/Cert/Diploma is preferred. The applicant must be an effective communicator and able to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Salary: £40,000 pa (pro rata) six days per month (include at least one day per week)
