Under the patronage of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council Member, Kalba Bird of Prey Centre provides education to schools, universities and open to the general public. We are also involved in research, and breeding of endangered raptor species.

Situated on the east coast of the UAE, Kalba Bird of Prey Centre, is the only dedicated BoP centre in the UAE. We house a collection of around 70 birds, most of which are found locally or within the Middle East.

Responsible to:        The Operations Manager of the Centre

Job Description:         To perform a number of integral animal-husbandry and training duties, important to the day to day running of the Centre; to provide support to various activities around the Centre. This position is also responsible for some of the administrative duties in the absence of the Assistant to the Manager.

Responsibilities: Not limited to.        Assist in the day to day management of a team of flying birds (trained and in-training) and a number of aviary birds (breeding and non-breeding). This includes responsibility for the husbandry and welfare of captive birds, maintenance of equipment and facilities, food preparation and feeding, accurate record-keeping, cleaning and overseeing the cleaning of all areas. Assist with the presentation of daily educational displays for the public and private groups. This will involve the flying of a number of birds of prey on view to the public whereby bird and public safety must be a priority at all times.

The successful candidate must have a Biology, Zoology, or Bird of Prey/Falconry qualification (or equivalent); and a minimum of 5 years professional experience with birds of prey, excellent husbandry, breeding, and enrichment skills; preferably in a zoological environment. Good communications and must be able to coordinate and present displays. Must be able to follow direction well, be able to work well in a group or on your own. Legally entitled to work in UAE and have a valid driver’s licence.
